ATR were approached by a large multi-disciplinary consultancy to undertake a detailed assessment of a series of junctions in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham with particular attention focused on the busy Gypsy Corner and Savoy Circus junctions with the A40.
The survey requirements included manual classified counts, queue lengths and saturation flow surveys. Given the busy nature of the survey area it was agreed for a site visit to be attended by the client and ATR to ensure all survey requirements were fully understood along with identifying any potential issues that could compromise the quality of data collected.
On the back of this site visit, camera locations for the extensive queue lengths along the A40 were determined along with agreeing the number of enumerators required to undertake the saturation flow and manual queue length observations. This site visit was invaluable for both parties and helped to manage expectations from both sides. ATR are always more than happy to price for, and attend a site visit prior to surveys going ahead if it is deemed necessary or helpful.
Here at ATR, we have extensive knowledge and experience in undertaking the notoriously difficult saturation flow surveys and this knowledge, along with thorough planning and organisation helped to ensure the survey ran smoothly despite some of the approach arms at the Gypsy Corner and Savoy Circus junctions having five lanes of heavily saturated traffic!
